GoFrogs: Horned Frogs Suffer 4-2 Loss to Cal

FORT WORTH, Texas – The No. 2 TCU men’s tennis team suffered its first loss of the season, as they fell to No. 24 Cal, 4-2, on Sunday morning at the Weller Indoor Tennis Center in Austin, Texas.

The Horned Frogs (3-1) were able to snag the doubles point for the second day in a row and went up 2-0 in the match after a singles win at the top position by Cameron Norrie, but the Golden Bears (4-1) grabbed four straight-set singles victories in a row to steal the overall match win.

After splitting matches at the top two positions in doubles, TCU looked to Guillermo Nuñez and Alex Rybakov on court three to pull off the win. After trailing in their match, the duo came back to take a 7-5 win and secure the point for the Frogs.

The strong play continued into singles as No. 4 Norrie easily handed No. 3 Andre Goransson, 6-1, 6-3, but it was not enough, as the Golden Bears picked up wins at positions two, three, four and six to upend TCU in the final day of competition in Austin.
